I woke up this morning to icicle toes. Hello, October. I pulled up my blankets from the edge of my bed, ending their summer vacation, and tried to figure how long I could stay in my cocoon.
I tried to make plans, lure friends and the BH crowd out to a free show. It's hard to convince others of the fun to be had when even you are dreaming of curling up with hot cocoa on a chilly night, with a blanket and a book. Or Project Runway.
But I'm going on a bike ride in a few to feel some fall enjoyment and remind myself why I call these days brisk and refreshing. I'm going to get lost in thoughts - hopefully not about jobs, applications, money, obligations, or the coldest winter on record prediction I heard today. Only about the drinks I'll have tomorrow at Safe Haven, Halloween costume planning, Guy Fawkes night, and how I have a party to attend every week for the next month. Summer may officially and phenomenologically be over, but the closeness and possibility don't have to end.

Coldest winter on record prediction? I say we start making more warm plans. The mac n'cheese bake-off is a good start. Ready for that?
